The Internet Explorer security patch Microsoft promised Wednesday is now available here. Rated critical, the update includes patches for seven vulnerabilities in addition to the one Google publicized last week.

Microsoft said the patch is for all current versions of Internet Explorer – IE6, IE7 and IE8. “The security update addresses these vulnerabilities by modifying the way that Internet Explorer handles objects in memory, validates input parameters, and filters HTML attributes,” Microsoft said.

Last week, Microsoft said a vulnerability in IE6 contributed to the high-profile cyber attacks Google announced last week when it said it would stop censoring search results in China. The Internet giant had traced the attacks, which targeted the intellectual property of about 20 companies, back to China.
