Microsoft Reveals LCD Keyboard [Customizable]

The QWERTY keyboard is old; it was developed back in the 18-freakin’-70s to minimize typebar jamming in typewriters. It became the English-language standard and was ported to electric typewriters and computers. But in these days of LCDs and touch screens, why? Might it make more sense — especially with all the other keyboards in other languages — to have keyboards that are changeable and customizable?

Enter the Adaptive Keyboard. Microsoft‘s Applied Sciences Group has produced a prototype tactile LCD keyboard that is entirely customizable and can act as a touch input device. It’s got see-through keys with a liquid-crystal display underneath.
