Microsoft’s Q4 and FY10 Earnings Breaking Downs
Microsoft managed to stay ahead of Apple in quarterly revenue. After Apple posted second-quarter revenue of $15.7 billion on Tuesday, many predicted it would surpass Microsoft for the first time ever. Seattlepi is writing more:
Microsoft on Thursday reported a whopping 48 percent spike in fourth-quarter profit from a year ago, as earnings increased from $3.05 billion to a record $4.52 billion. The smashing numbers were driven by continuing sales of Windows 7 and, somewhat less significantly, Office 2010.
Earnings per share jumped from 34 cents in Q4 FY09 to 51 cents in the quarter ended June 30.
Wall Street analysts had expected quarterly revenue of $15.27 billion, but Microsoft killed that number. Fourth-quarter revenue was $16.01 billion, Microsoft said, up 22 percent from the year-ago period.
